Robert Dean Hunter

Robert Dean Hunter—generally known as Robert D. Hunter, Robert Hunter, or just Bob Hunter—is a retired vice president at Abilene Christian University (ACU). He was born in 1928 in Dodge City, Kansas.

In 1986 Hunter became the first Republican since the Reconstruction Era to represent Abilene, Texas, in the Texas Legislature, where he served until retiring in 2006 from the Texas House of Representatives.[1] He represented District 71.

Besides his earned baccalaureate degree and master's degree in business from ACU, Hunter has received honorary doctorates from Pepperdine University, Texas Wesleyan College, University of St. Thomas (Houston), and Hardin-Simmons University.

Hunter and his wife Shirley Hunter have lived in Abilene, Texas, since 1956.
